Timecode Slate App for Iphone / Ipod Touch

timecodeplayericonlarge
A timecode slate is an essential tool for shooting music videos. The song is played back with a visual timecode information so that the image can be synced to sound in postproduction. The Timecode Slate for the Iphone plays back any song from the Music Library with a visual timecode.

You can choose from the following framerates:
24, 25, 29.97, 30, 48, 50, 59.94, 60, 100

Also roll, scene and take numbers, as well as date, director, DOP and notes can be entered directly.

If you hook up the Ipod/Iphone to a FM transmitter like the ones below and tune in your ghetto blaster, you have a great radio timecode and playback system for a bargain !

Great app! There are a few adjustments what would really improve it:

    - Fullscreen timecode. For al the music videos i shoot i never really log anything, i only use a timecode slate so i can sync easily in post. Because the iphone screen is rather small a fullscreen timecode view would be great, then is much easier to read and quicker to work with on set
    - Better skipping and playback options. In the fullscreen playback when you tab you should make a option where just like a quicktime or ipod song, you see a bar playing so can visually see where you are in the song.
    - Choice of color of the background and the timecode led (but thats a luxury)

Hope somehting like this will be possible, that would be great, then is can really compete with a denecke or ambient timecode slate!

    Hi Max,

    thank you for your input.
Fullscreen TC has been requested a couple of times, I will add that in the next update. I will see, if I can improve the skipping functions. Also, I will add cue points.
But this might take a couple of weeks.

    Best,

    Matthias

    Hello Matthias,

good to hear! Maybe a good option would also be to cut off the hours in front of the timecode as selectable option, then the timecode on screen can be even bigger and more readable.
Cuepoints and better skipping als sounds good.

A big extra what i also have with the normal slate is that i make the timecode start at 1 hour, and have 10 seconds preroll to hang in the slate in the shot before the song starts. So an option to add 10 or 20 seconds negative preroll or 10 or 20 seconds to the end would also really help, would something like that be possible?

    Kind regards,

    Max

    Hello Max,

the preroll feature has been requested before, but it’s not an easy thing to do in the app, since it has to be synchronized with the playback of the Ipod.
But you could always add a 10 sec preroll to your soundfile, wouldn’t that do the job ? Ok, not as pretty, but it should work.

You’re absolutely true about that, didn’t think of that, that solves the problem :) Can’t wait for the update. cheers!
